- He might have dementia but that doesn't explain the cruelty. He's a cruel bastard and I'm glad that dog was saved! Only 10 months old and yet he's still timid - there might have been abuse. Dementia doesn't make a person cruel - forgetful like the dickens but not cruel.

- Poor old sweet dog! I am so glad these people risked their own lives to save this dog - and I just never understand why some people get a pet (it is a choice to get a pet) and then are cruel to it. I don't understand that at all.

- Where is everybody reading that this man is illegal? Everything I've read says he's originally from the Dominican Republic - that's not automatically illegal. I believe I've read elsewhere that he owned that bodega for awhile and he's been in this country for 36 years.

- Forget raising the minimum wage - it's nice, but it doesn't answer the problem long term. The problem we've been having is a steady decrease in good paying jobs - by good, I mean jobs that pay enough to live on, save, and retire from.
